There is 7600 hektares in Chongqing National Nature Reserve, including 1235 hektares core area, 1505 hektares buffer and 4860 hektares experimental areas. It’s a nature conservation which takes natural ecological system formed by forest vegetation and living environment as principal object. National Jinyun Mt. Nature Reserve possesses very important protection value located in urban areas of Chongqing. It’s only 20KM away from central area of Chongqing, and it’s natural green barrier in north entrance of Chongqing and the lung of Chongqing as well as natural oxygen bar.

Jinyun Mt. owns 96.6% high forest coverage. In conservation area, there is big-size evergreen broadleaved forest with multiple representative ecological systems. From certain degree, it reflects natural foundation of central-subtropical forest ecosystem. It’s a typical ecological gene database of all species of subtropical forest ecosystem ecosystem. There are plentiful species and typical sight of subtropical forest ecosystem in Jinyun Mt. with many centuries-old special plants. There are 246 branches, 992 categories and 1966 varieties, including Chinese bretschneidera, Henry emmenopterys, many-flowered may-appple,ect 45 national protective plants, Jinyun dogwood, Jinyun Japanese ardisia,ect 38 mode plants, 105 freshwater alga. There are 1605 animals: 239 vertebrate, 1249 invertebrate, 52 mollusc and 65 annelid, including small civet cat, adjutant bird, stannel,ect 11 natiral key protective animals. Age-old origin, high grade unusual grade species. Jinyun Mt. possesses high values in conservation, scientific research, education and tour,ect aspects.

Jinyun Mt. Nature Reserve was established in 1979, and national nature reserve was founded in 2001 as well as Administration of National Chongqing Jinyun Mt. Nature Reserve which appoints 13 conservation stations and police stations. After the nature reserve was founded, especially it’s upgraded as a national nature reserve, forest sources and natural sources are conserved well, and there is not fire happened in continuous 43 years.
